London Alex Morgan’s debut for Tottenham will only be a few weeks away, as the American striker said she had been set back from playing against Arsenal in the women’s Premier League derby north of London on Sunday.
The two-time World Cup winner joined Tottenham last month this season to gain match time ahead of the Tokyo Olympics rescheduled in 2021, with the US season being curtailed by the pandemic.
But Morgan, who gave birth to Charlie Elena Carrasco in May, has not played since 2019.
“There is a small setback that keeps me from doing what I love,” Morgan wrote on Twitter on Sunday. “I can’t wait to get into the field with this team in the next few weeks. Literally, I can’t wait.”
